Natsume Takashi has lived his whole life with the ability to see yokai, supernatural beings that inhabit Japan. As an orphan he went from relative to relative, enduring hardships from not only moving, but from the yokai that only he can see. When he settles down with the kind Fujiwara family, he receives a certain book filled with names. Those names are contracts signed by the yokai that were subjugated by Natsume’s grandmother, Reiko. Unlike his grandmother, Natsume decides to return the names of the yokai that are contained in the book. However, this task is easier said than done, as some parts of the journey are fraught with dangerous yokai, and even humans.

This series is what gave me the push into the Shoujo genre and I’m ecstatic to see more. Even though many people (such as myself) prefer to see a season 5, we’re lucky to get an OVA at all. I can’t wait to see all the mythical beings and feels that Natsume Yuujinchou is known for in this new original video animation. You can pre-order the OVA on DVD/Bluray at Amazon or AmiAmi.

If you still haven’t seen Natsume Yuujinchou, you can buy the complete series at NIS America or watch it on Crunchyroll.
