Namco Bandai has announced a new game for Sword Art Online at the Dengeki Bunko Fall Festival. The game is titled: Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment. The game will be released exclusively on the Playstation Vita and will get a 2014 release.

In the game, Kirito comes across; yet again; ANOTHER GIRL. Surprise, surprise. After coming across the girl, who also wields a weirdly shaped dagger, Kirito discovers the “Hollow Area”, an undiscovered area of SAO.

The trailer displays some parts of the story, but the main interest is the gameplay. Gameplay is shown in the trailer, but the user interface is not present. The gameplay looks very similar to the one present in Sword Art Online: Infinity Moment [PSP]. However, the gameplay does look a lot smoother, so maybe you can cross your fingers for real time combat? Well probably not likely, but a fan can dream. The game also receives a boost in graphics compared to its predecessor, and the bosses look stunning. Unlike the PSP, maybe the Vita will allow a multiplayer function, something that should be a core component when creating a game about a virtual MMORPG.

I’m absolutely writhing in my seat while waiting for this game to be released. Just like for Infinity Moment, I’ll most likely be pre-ordering this on Ami Ami as soon as the pre-orders go up.
